Tax Simplification has always turned into Tax Complication in the past — Will this time be different?
“Tax Simplification” is the objective of a bipartisan bill just introduced by Senator Ron Wyden (Dem, OR) and Senator Judd Gregg (Rep, NH), co-authors of the proposed legislation.
Highlights include:
AMT:
Permanently eliminate the unpopular Alternative Minimum Tax
INDIVIDUALS:
1. Slash the number of Tax Brackets from six to only three — 15%, 25% & 35%.
2. Nearly triple the Standard Deduction
SMALL BUSINESS:
Allow 100% equipment cost write-offs in year-one.
CORPORATIONS:
Replace 6 Tax Rates and 8 Brackets, with a flat 24% Corp rate.
I have invited both Senators to participate in a live tele-conference for you, my 30,000+ newsletter subscribers, to explain — live and in person — how this proposed legislation will help you, the small and home-based business owner.
When I receive official acceptance of my invitation, you’ll be notified immediately of the details.

If you and your spouse “Co-Own” a home based business . . . be sure to read what the IRS says about your tax-filing obligations. I’ll give you 10-to-1 that there is something here that you need to know, but do not know.
This timely information could save you from an audit, a headache, a penalty — or all three.
Here’s a hint: You don’t just fill out a Schedule C and attach it to your Joint 1040 Tax Return. Not if you co-own the business.
If that’s what you thought, you’re wrong.
You do have two choices, but that’s not one of them. If you want to stay off the “audit radar screen,” make sure you file your taxes correctly.
